Emerging Engagements
Three areas of work now taking shape: springs, climate adaptation, and tourism.
Nature-based solutions for springshed development
Most Himalayan communities get their water from springs, and many springs are drying up. We are developing work on springshed revival that treats recharge zones, land use and community stewardship as one system.
Climate adaptation and water security
This thread connects climate adaptation planning with water security. The aim is to move past vulnerability assessments to specific interventions that departments can fund and run.
Biodiversity conservation and the tourism nexus
Tourism is the region’s biggest economic opportunity and one of its biggest ecological risks. We are looking at how tourism and conservation can support each other, so that destinations have a financial reason to keep their nature intact.
